Now In: Weapon Shipping Instructions
Shipping firearms inside the United States is not really all that difficult.
These instructions will give you instructions for sending weapons to Anvil Arms
for repair and modification. Any other shipping is not discussed here.
- The weapon MUST be unloaded. This can not be over stressed. Be sure you
triple check!
- You must not ship ammunition in the same box.
- You must take the package to the counter of the shipper. You can not give it to
a driver.
- You must advise the clerk that the box contains a firearm.
- DO NOT mark the outside of the box in an way that would indicate there is a
firearm inside.
- Make a photo copy of your state driver license and include it with the
work order. On the photo copy CLEARLY PRINT the address you want the weapon
returned to (hopefully the same address as on the license) Your phone number,
and if you have and use one, your email address.
- Make sure you have a copy of the Anvil Arms work order in the package.
Things to keep in mind:
- An individual is allowed to ship a firearm directly to an FFL for repair,
replacement or whatever.
- An FFL MUST ship (return) a firearm ONLY to the return address given by the
shipper/owner at the time the package was shipped. If this is not possible (say
the shipper/owner moved in the mean time) then the package must be sent to a FFL
in the original shippers (current at the time of return to owner) state of
residence.
All shipments to us MUST be made to the
appropriate address AND by the proper method using the proper carrier as clearly noted on the Contact Us Page. PLEASE be sure to read this page for the current correct information.
Please be sure to
securely package anything you are sending us to prevent damage. Anvil Arms can
not be responsible for items damaged in shipping due to poor packing or rough
shipper handling.
If you are shipping an upper receiver assembly to us for work
or repair, you can find (free) properly fitting boxes at the Post Office. They
are long and triangular shape. Simply wrap the upper assembly in bubble wrap or
other padding material.
If you are shipping a lower receiver for laser
engraving, please remove the upper receiver (unless we are also going to be
working on it as well) If you are able, remove the stock and receiver extension
(buffer tube) to save on shipping. If you leave the receiver extension, remove
the buffer and spring. It is not necessary to remove the “guts” of the receiver.
Be sure to insure your package for the replacement cost.
BE SURE TO INCLUDE the
Warranty Repair Work Order or the
Non-Warranty repair/modification
Work Order Form as appropriate. If this is a warranty be sure to
also include the RETURN AUTHORIZATION NUMBER; as issued by Anvil Arms.
PLEASE
contact us prior to shipping anything for repair so we can know what to expect
and what is to be done with it once it arrives. This can save you considerable
time in getting your parts back from us!
