16" HBar Straight Flutes
This is very close to "The barrel" used on the US Military A2 (20”) rifle being issued to our troops. The difference between this and the actual military issued barrel is the 4” of extra barrel length on the rifle model and of course the location of the FSB and associated carbine length gas system. Anvil Arms spends the extra money to give you the proper profile for the entire barrel, even under the hand guards (Where most people do not see it) where it is made smaller to allow for some weight savings. At Anvil Arms we do things right, we do not cut corners hoping you don’t notice!
Of special note on this barrel is the addition of straight fluting along the length of the barrel, both on the exposed parts forward of the hand guards and the normally covered area under the hand guards. By using a Yankee Hill Machine Lightweight type hand guard the normally hidden portions of the barrel can easily be seen. While fluting does very slightly reduce the weight and does give slightly more surface area for cooling, on a combat weapon like the AA15 fluting is almost entirely a cosmetic upgrade.
All "plain" barrels include a headspaced barrel with extension and gas port hole ONLY.
All barrels with "FSB" include the above and also a forged A2 front sight base pinned in place, barrel nut and forward hand guard cap.
All barrels (other than Stainless Steel) are first finished with flat black phosphate coating just like the majority of the AR industry does.
Once that is completed, the FSB and associated parts are installed and then the entire assembly is coated with flat black Norell Moly Coat.
This gives our barrels a higher rating in salt water spray corrosion testing than a Stainless Steel barrel.
It also gives our barrels one of the best looking finishes in the industry.
Substitute OD Green, light or dark tan for black Moly Coat $25
Coat Stainless Steel Barrel with Black Moly Coat $50, OD Green, Light or Dark Tan $75
All barrels feature the most universal rifling twist rate of 1:9. This allows the end user the widest selection of bullet weights.
NOTE:
On all 14.5” or longer barrels we can permanently install a Yankee Hill Machine Phantom Muzzle Break to bring the barrel info compliance with states that do not allow threaded muzzles or flash suppressors. This is a $60 option.
